The African Princess dress is a tribute to all the strong women who work in the second-hand clothing industry in Africa. The rug was designed by Eno Andrew Essien from Nigeria and handwoven in Kenya. It contains approximately 40 upcycled, unwearable or unsellable jeans, all collected in Nairobi.
By collecting and upcycling used textiles, Africa Collect Textiles (ACT) is kicking off a circular economy for textiles in Africa. They prevent materials from being thrown away on the land or burned in the open air. In addition, they create decent and well-paid jobs.
