The colorful flip-flop bracelets are made by the Bozo women from Mali. The flip flops are selected by color and cut into pieces. The pieces are strung on an awl and melted in this way. With a quick movement, the molten mass is turned around another awl. The double color is created when the first color is rotated over the second melted color. When the plastic has dried, it is pushed off the awl, with a warm knife the ends are melted to stick them together.
The bracelets are a stable source of income for the Bozo women and ensure a reduction in plastic waste. A project that we at Nic & Mic are happy to support.
